Mumbai bomb blast accused convicted

The 1993 Mumbai blasts trial resumed today (September 18) with two more accused - Asghar Mukadam and Shahnawaz Qureshi being declared guilty. The two were held guilty for executing the blasts carried out in Mumbai's Plaza Cinema in Dadar Mukadam and his cousin Mohammad Ghansar are the main accused in the blasts case. Mukadam took Ghansar to Tiger Memon's house on the morning of the blasts. Mukadam was also Tiger Memon's business manager. Mukadam is accused of planting RDX in a red Maruti van at Plaza Cinema, Dadar on the morning of March 12, 1993. The Plaza Cinema explosion killed 10 people, injured 36 and damaged property worth Rs 87 lakh. Mukadam is charged with conspiracy, and aiding and abetting a terrorist act. Along with Mukadam, accused number 29, Shahnawaz Qureishi has also been charged for parking a car packed with explosives outside Plaza Cinema. Speaking to the media after the verdict was announced, prosecutor in the case Ujjwal Nikam said, “I am very happy with the guilty verdict because Plaza Cinema was a landmark in Mumbai. People used to throng to it in large numbers and it was also close to Shiv Sena Bhavan. Asghar Mukadam has been found guilty on 14 charges, while Shahnawaz Qureshi has been found guilty on 12.” Nikam also said that it was proven in court that the people who carried out the blasts had received training in Pakistan. “There has been a judicial finding wherein it has been proven that Shahnawaz Qureshi, one of the accused, has been held guilty of undergoing training in Pakistan,” he added.

Four days after the BJP-led government lost its majority, independent MLA Madhu Koda has been sworn in as Jharkhand Chief Minister.Three other independent MLAs - Enos Ekka, Harinarayan Rai and Kamlesh Singh - were also sworn in with him.However, there is little clarity on the rest of Koda's cabinet as intense lobbying continues among RJD, JMM and independent legislators for ministerial berths. It is the fifth swearing-in ceremony in Jharkhand, but for the first UPA government is taking charge since it became a state less than six years ago.Arjun Munda resigned on September 14 without facing the trial of strength in the assembly after four of his ministers quit and withdrew support to his government, reducing it to a minority. Governor Syed Sibtey Razi has asked Koda to prove his majority in the Assembly by September 25.

King Ghadsi himself supervised the construction of Ghadisaar and every day he has come down from the palace and see each every thing related to the construction. She convinced, doing seminar in Delhi and discussion in English is no use because these seminars are away from the realities. Her mission for the last twenty years to uplift the social & economic status of rural women those are living in the destitute conditions. For that she has constituted a NGO “The Independent commission for Peoples”. In this NGO she is working as a secretary and at this capacity she giving the impetus to succeed the mission who lives in the remote areas. She is sympathetic from her childhood for those who are even not getting basic necessities in their life. Her mother Arunachalam was a social worker and she understands her mother’s mission towards unprivileged societies. Without any second thought she has selected this field as her career. To understand more about the social sector she has opted Sociology as her subject and research in this subject she want to understand physically the work for that she goes into the rural areas for witnessed the realities and incorporate her experiences in her research. After marriage she has continued her work and tries to balance her married life. She married in a political family so initially every one noted her social activities as political and no one takes it seriously but after sometime everything has settled down. She has given more stress on formulated cooperative based programmes, her role in this area as a visionary. She has made few training programmes for self employment in minimum investment for the rural women for their livelihood. How much she succeeded in social sector mission? The answer is the most successful marketing strategy of Mumbai Dabbawala concept of well organised association “Annpurna Mahila Sangathan”. She was one of the key members to establish this organization. At one stage Mumbai factories were shut down and unemployment has reaches on top, at that stage she organised the unemployed people and started home or work place delivery food chain and it succeeded and its success set an example in the world. For social work she has not stick at one place or an activity. Her NGO is working in Bihar along with Orrisa, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhara Pradesh and Keral. Now she involves in her prestigious programme to train over 550 NGOs who are working in this field. She has worked in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and apart from that she has work for war widows in Combodia for their rehabilitation and self employment training programme also assist them in getting loan to start their small business for over two years. Although she has made lot of efforts for the weaker section of the society and admits that for social balance self sufficient is important. She also admits that government has doing enough work but apart from that people also come forward to join in poverty alleviation efforts and to guarantee to implement the development programmes.

Can Shivraj curtail bureaucratic corruption?

Young and fire brand Chief Minister Shivraj Singh is blowing the whistle against corrupt bureaucrats. He is now planning to eject corrupt roots from the departments and creating a history of a new chapter in Madhya Pradesh as corrupt-free State. But the task is not at all easy. Entire world is burning with this problem and so it is definitely a difficult task for this young Chief Minister. He is, however, vibrant and energetic and committed to achieve this task with full colours. Corruption in entire Madhya Pradesh is thriving at this moment and no one is bothering. ‘Stop Corruption’ CM’s message gives great relief to the state. But it is very unfortunate that Shivraj himself is facing a few corruption allegations in his constituency. Archaeology Survey of India imposed the allegation that Chief Minister’s siblings have encroached the government land and constructed a warehouse. But the Chief Minister has already sent his clarification to the concerned authorities. As a politician some allegations are evident but by and large he is one such leader who has not much involved in any controversy. He became the Chief Minister in a very different environment when Uma Bharti created a difficult situation for the party. The party was facing a difficult phase and senior party leaders made their consensus on Shivraj Singh at that moment. For BJP it is a task to resurrect its image in the state. Indiscipline inside the party gives bad message in the public. The party’s image was quite different in public but now the party has completely lost its grace and it may take long durations for image restoration. Some bureaucrats are still enjoying the privileges as a best posting no matter who is the Chief Minister. But who they are? This is a million dollar question! Those bureaucrats who are indulging in creating good wealth on the behalf of public money are enjoying good postings. But these bureaucrats are not in veiled even general public know these officers. Few heads of departments could be pin-pointed like urban development, rural development department, World Bank and DFID funded Projects, PWD corporation, forest department and its corporations, health department, few district collectors and superintendent of police – these are few examples where the corruption is noticeable. Denouncing corruption from the roots is a chronic task and it is difficult for a man like Shivraj Singh. Just campaigning to curb down corruption is like befooling the public. No BJP Chief Minister in Madhya Pradesh had tried for development or to curb corruption. The state is still suffering from Paani, Bijli and Sadak and unemployment is raising high and high. The state needs a good administrator who could rule with utmost desire for the development and prosperity. Although Shivraj is listening to everyone with aplomb and trying to convince, but still he is far behind to check on bureaucracy, even though it is a tough task but not difficult. His responsibility increases due to his incongruity selection as a Chief Minister. Madhya Pradesh is struggling with sanguinity yet.

Bureaucracy is the most prestigious and unmatched profession. Females too are joining this profession and enjoy the aura and power of this profession now. Political interference has entered bureaucracy, exploiting and ruining the whole system. It is a general perception that female officers are dedicated and are sincere with their profession, but in present context, it all looks dubious. The condition of female bureaucrats in Madhya Pradesh is shabby. No female officer is doing any useful contribution for the state development although they are facing few problems. Apart from that they are all enjoying the privileges that government has provided to them. We could not spare female bureaucrats from corruption, as maximum are involved in deep corruption. On many occasions they beat their male counter parts. In Madhya Pradesh there are many examples when female bureaucrats have totally ruined the department’s reputation. For example, state government got World Bank’s grant for the deprived people and strengthening the economic and social status of the rural women. In both these projects the state government gave charge to the female bureaucrats. Unfortunately the projects have gone in dearth, but they feel it good because they enjoy maximum sumptuousness on the behalf of the poor’s money. Why these female bureaucrats dared to do this ruining act? It’s vivid that they have no responsibility. One of the female bureaucrats is now on deputation and the other is in the same department, but projects have been closed. There are many other female bureaucrats who are heading the districts and departments like food, health, education and involved in enough corruption, but act as strict and honest officers as they are taking advantage of vulnerability. They are helpless on many occasions and try to humiliate the political representatives and poor people but hardly take any retaliation with powerful forces. It all shows their weakness and hypocrisy.
There are, however, a few problems with the female bureaucrats that could not be ignored. Many are suffering from family brutality. Maximum couples are in the same profession. Jealously is evident and hence life becomes a hell in that frustration. Some of the couples are facing illegitimate relationship ordeal. In this clan maximum female bureaucrats spinster by different reasons so their friendship with their own fraternity male colleagues creates gossiping in the powers of corridor. However, on many occasions it becomes necessary for female bureaucrats to keep a male friend. Some how few relationships are healthy and some are brutal obviously. Some male bureaucrats lost their family happiness because of such illegitimate relationships. It seems this profession is also losing its grace like politics.
